Hi my name is Julia Bates.
It is a pleasure to introduce myself as your
Licenced ZUMBA ® Instructor.
I live to dance and love sharing my passion with others.
After years of lessons in jazz, ballet and contemporary dance,
I found my true passion in the Latin genre at the age of 17.
Having never travelled internationally,
I boarded the plane at 23 for my 2 1/2 month
'trip of dance and independence.'
First stop Brazil, to witness Samba at Carnival in Rio,
followed by Argentina for a Tango emersion,
then onto Bolivia for an intense cultural experience.
As the travel bug took hold,
I developed a fascination for experiencing different types
of music and dance in their country of origin.
My husband and I (also a Dancer and Flamenco Guitarist),
have been lucky to have travelled through
Spain, Mexico, Cuba and Central America
doing just that.
At some point around the globe trotting,
I completed my Certificate in Dance Teaching
and achieved my Gold Premier Star Medal in Latin Dance.
I enjoyed teaching partner dancing for several years.
About six years ago, I decided I wanted
to become just as confident dancing solo,
as I was dancing with a partner.
Thanks to great local musos at live gigs,
my dance background and some bravery,
I was soon grooving very confidently, solo and freestyle
Teaching ZUMBA ® has become
a fabulous way for me to combine dance with fitness,
to some seriously rhythmic tunes.
Utilising the ZUMBA ® class structure,
some of their tracks and clever routines,
I am able to add some unique style and flavour of my own.
Come and join me.
I can't wait to meet you!
